The first museum on the Moon

The first metaverse
on the Moon. Literally.

On March 2, 2025 we landed the first museum on the Moon: 47 artworks at Mare Crisium — and the metaverse gallery that houses them travelled with them. The museum stands on the Moon. You can walk through it from Earth.

Chapter 1

The ultimate use case
for tokenized assets

Every tokenized asset on Earth has an earthly weakness: the warehouse burns, the vault floods, the company folds. Our art is in the one vault nobody can touch.

Mare Crisium · permanent collection
Hi! We're your guides. On March 2, 2025 we landed the first museum on the Moon — 47 artworks at Mare Crisium, see the dot, top right. And here's the breakthrough: the metaverse gallery landed with them.
So the whole gallery is up there… and I can still visit it?
Exactly. One museum, two places: standing on the Moon forever, and open on your screen right now. What is on the Moon can be seen on Earth.
And that makes our art the ultimate use case for tokenized assets: kept in the one vault no fire, flood or failure can ever touch. New words? Scroll on — five minutes and you'll own them all.

Our two little guides are avatars, not artworks. They are not part of the 47 and cannot be minted.

Chapter 2

What is a metaverse?

A shared digital world you can visit, meet people in, and own things in. Every metaverse so far lived only on servers. Ours landed on the Moon — and opens on Earth.

Servers
only
Every other metaverse
Ours · on the Moon, open on Earth
See that dot? That's not a logo on a map — 47 artworks are physically there, on the lunar surface. Our metaverse mirrors a real place.
So "the first metaverse on the Moon"… that's not marketing?
It's coordinates. Our digital world mirrors a real collection at a real place no one can reach, alter or burn down. That's what makes everything you're about to learn matter.

Chapter 3

NFTs & tokenized assets

Not a JPEG. A deed of ownership, recorded on the blockchain, held only by you. (Curious how that works? See the Blockchain tab.)

Deed of ownershipArtwork #12 · recorded on chain, forever
When you buy a house you don't carry the house around — you hold the deed. An NFT is a deed for something digital. "Tokenized assets" just means: real things with a deed like that. Art, tickets, music rights, buildings.
But a deed is only as good as the thing it points to… where do you keep the thing?
Remember chapter 1: ours is on the Moon. Permanent deed, permanent vault. The weakest link is gone. And there are two ways to be part of it.
Chapter 4

Two ways to own it

Start small and join the mission, or collect a piece of history itself.

The collectible

Mint a thumbnail

A black & white collectible of one of the 47 Mare Crisium artworks. Affordable, and every mint flies the little astronaut 2 miles closer to the Moon.

  • Low-cost mint on Base
  • Every mint = 2 miles for the mission
  • Fill the 47-card and redeem the golden token

The original

Collect the artwork

Each of the 47 artworks on the Moon has exactly one original NFT — the deed to the actual piece in the lunar collection. Once they're gone, they're gone.

  • 1 of 1 — only 47 exist in the world
  • The deed to art physically on the Moon
  • Provenance recorded on chain, forever

The tech,
explained simply

Everything a first-timer needs, in the order you'll meet it. Six short chapters, no jargon, nothing assumed.

Chapter 1

What is a blockchain?

A notebook that everyone can read, nobody can secretly edit, and that never forgets.

BLOCK 1who owns what
BLOCK 2who owns what
BLOCK 3who owns what
YOUyour mint
Like a guest book written in permanent ink?
Exactly. Every page is sealed to the one before it — that's the "chain". Change an old page and everyone sees the broken seal. A record everyone can trust, owned by no one.
Chapter 2

What is a wallet?

Your own key to that notebook. Not an account someone gives you — a key only you hold.

Your wallet
0x84f2…9b31
🔑 Only you hold the key
Do I need to be technical? Or pay to make one?
Neither. A wallet is a free app — two minutes to set up. No email, no password, no company holding your stuff. Here, connecting is one click and one free approval. That's the whole thing.
Chapter 3

What does it cost?

Two amounts, and one of them isn't ours. Here is the whole bill before you agree to anything.

The mintThe price of the thumbnailto MoonMars
Network feeUsually cents on Baseto the network
Paid once, when you approvethat's it
Why is there a second fee? I only wanted one thing.
Because writing in that notebook is work, and the people doing it get paid for it. That's the network fee — "gas", if you meet the word elsewhere. It goes to the network, never to us, and on Base it is usually a matter of cents.
And what's ETH? Do I have to buy something first?
ETH is the currency this network runs on, the way euros run a shop. You need a little in your wallet before you mint — your wallet app can sell you some, and you'll need far less than people expect. Your wallet always shows you the total and asks first. Nothing moves until you say yes.

Prices move, and so do network fees. We can't quote you a number here that would still be true tomorrow — the mint screen shows the real one, from the contract, before you approve anything.

Chapter 4

What does minting do?

You're not picking something off a shelf. You're the reason it exists.

YOU PRESSmint
THE CHAINwrites a new line
IT'S YOURSin your wallet
Buying is taking something that already exists off someone else's hands. Minting is the moment it first exists — and the notebook records that it was you.
So there's no undo button.
There isn't, and we'd rather say so now than in the small print. A line in that notebook is permanent, so there's nothing to refund and no one who could. That's the same permanence that makes it worth having — it cuts both ways. Read the wallet screen before you approve it.
And what am I actually getting?
A black & white thumbnail of one of the 47 artworks on the Moon — the collectible, not the original artwork itself. And two miles of the astronaut's journey, which is the part we like best.
Chapter 5

Can I sell it later?

Yes — and not through us. Once it's yours it is genuinely yours, including the leaving.

YOUR WALLETtoday
SOMEONE ELSEone day
the chain writes the handover down
Do I have to come back here to sell it?
No. It sits in your wallet, not in an account on our site, so any marketplace that speaks to Base can list it. We aren't in the middle of that — we couldn't stop it if we wanted to, and that is rather the point.
Will it be worth more?
We have no idea, and anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing at best. This isn't an investment and we don't sell it as one. Mint it because you want the thing. If it travels on afterwards, good — that's what a deed is for.
Chapter 6

Keeping it safe

One page you should read twice. A key only you hold is also a key only you can lose.

Your recovery phrase
··············· ··············· ··············· ···············
🔒 Nobody's business but yours
When you set up a wallet it gives you a list of words — a recovery phrase. That list is the wallet. Anyone holding it holds everything in there, on any device, forever.
So where do I keep it?
On paper, somewhere you'd keep a passport. Not in a photo, not in a notes app, not in an email to yourself. And there's no "forgot password" here — lose the words and nobody on Earth can let you back in. Not us, not the wallet company.
How do I know a message is really from you?
Start from the rule that it isn't. Nobody from MoonMars will ever ask for your recovery phrase — not support, not a giveaway, not someone friendly in a chat. There is no reason we would need it, so anyone asking is not us.
Two more habits and you're safer than most: reach this site by typing moonmars.io rather than following a link someone sent you, and actually read what your wallet asks before you approve it. A signature we ask for is free and moves nothing — if a screen wants money and you didn't ask to spend any, stop there.

That's all you need

A record everyone can trust, a key only you hold, and no surprises about what it costs. Ready?

One approval in your wallet to connect — nothing is signed or paid until you press a collect button. Gas on Base is a few cents. The two little guides in the middle of the card are avatars, not artworks: they are not part of the 47 and cannot be minted.

Look closely at a full card: it draws an X and a Y chromosome. The collection is DNA — 47 chromosomes instead of 46, because an artist with Down syndrome is part of it.

The collection

47 artworks,
one address: the Moon

The Mare Crisium collection — physically on the lunar surface since March 2, 2025, in full colour. 47 works, like 47 chromosomes: humanity's 46 plus one extra, because an artist with Down syndrome is part of the collection. Each original is 1 of 1.

Why owning one of the 47 is different

These are not editions. Each original is the single deed — 1 of 1 — to an artwork that is physically on the Moon, part of the first art collection in history to leave Earth for good. Among them: the first drawing of DNA by Francis & Odile Crick, work by Paul van Hoeydonck — the only artist on the Moon since 1971 — and a CryptoPunk pair. Forty-seven exist. There will never be a forty-eighth.

That is why the originals start at 10 ETH each. Not as a promise of value, but as a statement of what they are: museum pieces of the digital renaissance, with their provenance recorded on chain forever.

Our hope: one guardian for all 47. The collection is DNA — 47 chromosomes that belong together as a single body of work. We are looking for the collector who keeps them united, on Earth as they are on the Moon.
